We are still seeing the effects of the World Championships on the financial markets. The three hottest cards should be no surprise for the watchers of the tournament streams. Again, just in time for FNM, I'll tell you what cards will be the talk of the town tonight.

#1 Fatestitcher +38.9% ($3.68)

Fatestitcher

After the whopping +1004.2% last week, Fatestitcher is the #1 winner again this week. The card seems to be settling in around the $3.50 mark at this time.

If you want to know why Fatestitcher spiked, check out last week's article

#2 Whip of Erebos +23.5% ($3.21)

Whip of Erebos

Whip of Erebos is a piece in the Sultai Whip/ Sultai Delver/ Sidisi Whip deck that Shahar Shenhar piloted to his win in the MTG World Championships. The card works well with Sidisi, Brood Tyrant, since you can get those cards you put into your graveyard in exchange for your zombie tokens back into play, with haste. And don't forget: your creatures have lifelink.

Also, Whip of Erebos is played in the Abzan Midrange deck that got Team Denmark their world cup title. So, you can imagine that Whip of Erebos gets a lot of attention when two world cup winning decks have this card in common. But the list does not end there. These are the all decks running Whip of Erebos:

  1. Abzan Midrange
  2. Mono Green (how mono is mono green with a black splash? :p)
  3. Sidisi Whip / Sultai Delve
  4. Mardu Midrange

#3 Sidisi, Brood Tyrant +14.8% ($3.12)

Sidisi, Brood Tyrant

The reason why this #3 has gained in value is exactly the same reason why Whip of Erebos has spiked in price. But Sidisi, Brood Tyrant is not only fun in Standard, it has a great potential for EDH and (multiplayer) casual as well. Check out this nice YouTube video on the potential Whip of Erebos has.

Also nice is the Sidisi Four Horsemen build. Check out the reddit discussion

And if you don't like to netdeck, check out this thread from mtgsalvation: a brainstorm session. This primer is also a cool and good read.

Loser of the week:  Emrakul, the Aeons Torn -6.5%  ($47.66)

Emrakul, the Aeons Torn

This week Modern Masters 2 was announced. Sorry, I mean Modern Masters 2015 edition. And who is the postergirl of the announcement? Yes, it's Emrakul, the Aeons Torn (And Etched Champion). And the influence on the price was instantly visible. At first is seemed like a free fall, but the price increased slightly yesterday.

Cheap pickup of the week: Mutavault  ($12.99) ALL TIME LOW

Mutavault

Planning of getting into Legacy? But you don't want to spend too much on your dual lands or fetch lands? But you are willing to put some dollar into it? Merfolks might just be the thing for you. No fetch, no duals and your can get away with playing 0 wastelands. And on top of that: Mutavault is at it's all time low right now!

Also interesting this week

Check out these cards that are on the move this week. Either going up, or down, but always interesting to know!

More from Peter:

Weekly Winners 2021 - 36

Just like last week, the Commander: Innistrad: Midnight Hunt spoilers are the main factor of influence on the markets this week. There are enough cards spoiled for the brewing to commence and we expect a lot more movement in the coming weeks!

Like every week, just in time for (digital) FNM, I'll now tell you about the cards that will be the talk of the (digital) town tonight!

Catalyst Stone Daybreak Ranger Oboro, Palace in the Clouds

Weekly Winners 2021 - 13

This week we saw a lot of interesting movement. Most of it caused by Strixhaven spoilers, but the old frame fetchlands spiked as well.

For the first time since the COVID pandemic hit, our interest page looks like normal for a change! Many (huge) spikes from different sets and eras. I choose to see this as an omen of better times ahead!

Chain of Smog Illumination Magma Sliver

Somewhat of an odd week. Not really any spikes that has one really obvious or notable reason and of course still a lot of older cards moving up.

Selective Memory Pearl Medallion Zombie Master

Weekly Winners 2021 - 08

The most interesting week in a long, long time! Maybe I'm a but biased due to my love for Legacy, but this week that format is the biggest driving factor behind the three weekly winners.

A strange and eventful week in the world of finance. Where you'd expect tons of cards to spike due to new brews, we mainly see a new hausse of reserved list cards being bought out. And also non-reserved list cards that happen to be MTG classics.
