Yesterday the new banning announcement was published by Wizards. And the announcment is having a big effect on the markets. And not only the cards that are actually banned are on the move, also the cards that have synergy with them have already changed in price.

This huge spike should not be a surprise to anyone. Worldgorger Dragon was banned for a good reason back in the day, but just like Wizards states; why keep it on the banned list when you can also reanimate a Griselbrand instead?Worldgorger Dragon combos with speed X damage spell. This also grants any player the possibility to draw a game at will, even in turn 2 of the game. But your opponent will be able to loop the game as well by removing all creatures from all graveyards in response to the trigger.
Also up because of Worldgorger Dragon is Scion of the Ur-Dragon (+60.8% - $4.99)
Interestingly, Birthing Pod is only down $0,25 since yesterday. One would expect that this card would plummet in price right after the banning announcement, but that it not the case. Even now, the live prices don't indicate a huge price drop yet.
The card is fun in casual. However, one can debate how 'casual' a deck is that revolves around a card that is banned in Modern. Anyway, it seems that players are holding on to their copies of pod, probably because the card has great play value and is only as good as the creatures you choose to find with it.
Also no surprise is the spike of Golgari Grave-Troll, since it was unbanned in Modern.
Vengevine is up once again. After the banning of Deathrite Shaman in Modern we saw the same thing happening. With Golgari Grave Troll back on the menu, it is possible that graveyard strategies might pop up in modern. I'd watch the new brews on the many MTG forums to check out whether Vengevine will see competitive play anytime soon.
On a sidenote, Vengevine can work well with Survival of the Fittest, and that card was speculated on in the days leading up to the banning announcement. Some traders stocked up on them in the hope that it would be unbanned.
Stoneforge Mystic has spiked with almost 10% overnight, and not because it is unbanned in modern, but because Treasure Cruise is banned in Legacy. Because of Treasure Cruise, blue decks were outperforming many other decks, including the strategies that used Stoneforge Mystic. But Treasure Cruise was also played alongside Stoneforge Mystic in Patriot.
But with Treasure Cruise gone, the Legacy format has gotten a tad slower. And therefore Stoneforge Mystic is now playable again. Also, after the banning UR Delver has become slower as well, which might persuade people to splash white again and start playing Patriot (again).
