The markets are interesting again in the past weeks, and this week I have three fresh new winners for you. So, once again, just in time for FNM, I present you the cards that will be the talk of the town tonight.

 #1 Collected Company +109.7% ($9.50)

Collected Company

When someone goes undefeated and ends up being the #1 at the end of day 1 of a Grand Prix, people will start to examine what cards for that deck are promising. And in the case of Yohan Dudognon's deck, Collected Company is the card that spiked because of his good performance. The deck runs 22 creatures and all of them are costed 3 or less, making them all targets for Collected Company. A solid card in a solid deck.

When a card increases in value after a deck/ player has performed well, you see two things happening. On the one hand, people that play the format (Standard in this case) get interested in acquiring the card or cards they don't own yet, increasing the demand. On the other hand, speculators easily spot a good investment target and start to buy into the card, also increasing the demand.

This was also the case with Collected Company. So be aware that its price will probably be a little inflated at this time. $9.50 for a rare that's still in print is pretty steep. Collected Company is the most expensive rare in KTK at this time, topping both Den Protector and Thunderbreak Regent with more than a dollar.

#2 Dack Fayden +50.2% ($42)

Dack Fayden

Dack Fayden is now the most expensive card in Conspiracy. With $42 is it even more expensive than numbers 2 trough 6 on the 'most expensive list' combined. Just like with Collected Company, the spike of Dack Fayden is a combination of 'real' demand and a buyout, but it's $42 price tag might even prove a realistic price for the card. I expect it to settle under $40.

The reason is that Dack Fayden is a good planeswalker and sees play in Vintage and Legacy. It's from a set that is not opened a lot, and that means that card doesn't have a large supply. And on top of that it's also a mythic. These are all factors that increase the price of a card. Let me list them again for you, because these 'rules' apply for many other cards as well. So, these factors push the price of a card:

  • Being a planeswalker
  • Being a mythic
  • Being from a limited/ less popular set
  • Being played in multiple formats
  • Being printed in one set only

And Dack Fayden ticks all these boxes.

#3 Serum Visions +30.7% ($10.13)

Serum Visions

They didn't listen. Our prayers went unanswered. Serum Visions is not in Modern Masters 2015. And that simple fact created a run on the common that was already absurdly high priced to begin with. $10.13 is too much for a Modern common, and it has this price even when WotC announced that Serum Visions will be a FNM promo. That doesn't really matter, since it will be a limited print run and a foil.

Serum Visions's price is so high, it's now the most expensive common amongst all most played cards in all formats. And that's pretty incredible for a card that sees no play in Legacy or Vintage. Why would you even consider playing it when you can have cards like brainstorm, ponder and preordain. And because you can't play any of those other cards, you will need Serum Visions when you want to play any kind of combo deck in Modern.

Just like last week, the Commander: Innistrad: Midnight Hunt spoilers are the main factor of influence on the markets this week. There are enough cards spoiled for the brewing to commence and we expect a lot more movement in the coming weeks!

The most interesting week in a long, long time! Maybe I'm a but biased due to my love for Legacy, but this week that format is the biggest driving factor behind the three weekly winners.
