Discord Bot
The MTGStocks bot is a valuable addition to your server, providing updates on Magic: The Gathering card trends, articles, and interests. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to set it up.
1. Installing the MTGStocks Bot
To install the MTGStocks bot, use the following invite link:
- Click the link and select the server where you want the bot installed.
- Ensure the bot has necessary permissions to manage channels and read/send messages in your chosen channels.
- Confirm the installation.
The bot should now appear in your server's member list.
2. Configuring Update Channels
After installation, you can configure channels where the MTGStocks bot will send updates. The bot supports two types of updates:
- Interests: Updates on card interests, highlighting shifts in popularity.
- Articles: Notifications of new articles on MTGStocks.
To configure these updates, use the /mtgstocks
command with administrative privileges in your server:
Register a Channel for Updates
To set up an interests or articles channel, use:
/mtgstocks interests channel [#channel-name]
or
/mtgstocks articles channel [#channel-name]
Replace [#channel-name]
with the specific channel where you'd like the updates to appear.
Deregister a Channel
If you need to remove a channel from receiving updates, use:
/mtgstocks deregister channel [#channel-name]

Important: Configure Roles and Channel Permissions
To ensure the bot can send updates correctly, make sure it has the correct role with the appropriate permissions:
- Assign the bot a role with Send Messages and Read Messages permissions.
- In channels where updates are posted, confirm that this role has:
- Send Messages: Allows the bot to post updates.
- Read Messages: Ensures the bot can access the channel.
- Embed Links: Enables richer, embedded content.
You can manage these permissions in your server settings under Roles and adjust the bot's role permissions in individual channel settings as needed.
