The April Fool's Deadpool drop is making prices move. And Dragons are also still popular. Time to make the chimichangas!

Like every week, just in time for FNM, I'll tell you about the Magic: the Gathering cards that'll be the talk of the town tonight! Come discuss this week's price movements with us on Discord.

Onto the Weekly Winners!

#1 The Master, Multiplied $19.99 (+1919%)

This legendary Time Lord from Universes Beyond: Doctor Who spiked a lot this week. After being below a dollar for a long time it's become popular once again. When you have The Master, Multiplied on the battlefield, the "legend rule" doesn't apply anymore to your creature tokens, meaning you can make copies of legendary creatures and have multiples of them. It also has Myriad. Just as a refresher: whenever a creature with Myriad attacks, its controller may create token copies of that creature for each other opponent attacking those opponents, which are exiled at the end of combat.

The reason for the spike is the April Fool's Deadpool Secret Lair that was dropped, which includes Deadpool, Trading Card. Deadpool enters and "steals" the textbox from another creature. He also makes its controller lose three life at the beginning of their upkeep. If you let Deadpool steal the Time Lord's textbox you could then attack with Deadpool, making a copy of him for each opponent you're attacking. Since the legend rule doesn't apply the copy lets you steal the textbox from a different creature (your opponent's, for example). At the end of combat you get to keep your "stolen" creatures, and your opponents will have their creatures become "Deadpool"s. And once their upkeep starts, they'll lose three life for each "Deadpool" they control.

You could include something like Damping Matrix in your deck to prevent your opponents from sacrificing their "Deadpool"s. Whether this combo will actually be good remains to be seen, but it does fit the Deadpool shenanigans theme, and since Deadpool is probably going to be pretty popular it's likely to see the deck being played.

#2 Surrak Dragonclaw $9.20 (+88%)

If you're a regular reader of the Weekly Winners you probably know by now that cards that work well with Dragons have been moving up the past few weeks. And since Tarkir: Dragonstorm will release soon, that's barely a coindidence. The set revolves a lot around Dragons and Dragon support.

While Surrak Dragonclaw isn't a Dragon and doesn't even specifically mention Dragons (I mean, except in its name), it seems to be following the same trend. Back in October this card could be bought for about a dollar, but has been steadily moving up since then. And while the Khans of Tarkir print seems to be behind in price, the trend is noticable for that as well.

Surrak can be flashed in to make your creature spells uncounterable and give them trample. Who doesn't want all their creatures to have that kind of protection and being able to get their damage through?

#3 Rashida Scalebane $2.99 (+88%)

And speaking of Dragon hype, it's time for the card that always seems to spike whenever Dragon support is incoming. Rashida Scalebane is on the Reserved List and thus it will never be reprinted again, meaning the supply is low compared to cards nowadays. And if there's one thing that Rashida does best, it's killing Dragons. By just tapping you can kill an attacking or blocking Dragon, gaining you some life.

The last time Rashida went up was in June 2022 when she also appeared in our Weekly Winners. Back then we were getting close to the Commander Legends: Battle for Baldur's Gate release where we also saw support for Dragons. In that same article we also talked about Zirilan of the Claw shooting up. And while we don't see that card on our Interests this week, it does have an uptrend.

While I find it frankly odd that Rashida Scalebane is getting more expensive when Dragons are on the horizon, it does seem to be a recurring trend. But it feels weird to put "sideboard" cards in your Commander decks.

Cheap Pickups

Please note: for our 'record low' we consider the price of the card over the past seven years. Many cards were even cheaper (a) decade(s) ago. Also note: some cards are still going down, and might be even cheaper pickups next week.

Zul Ashur, Lich Lord (Extended Art) $2.84 - Moving up!

Zul Ashur, Lich Lord (Extended Art) has been identified by the MTGStocks Premium Penny Stocks feature as a card that has reached its bottom and is starting a consistent uptrend.

Bloodghast $0.99 - Slowly moving up

Sword of Forge and Frontier $6.99 - Moving down
