Onto the Weekly Winners!

#1 Boom // Bust $7.97 (+949%)

This rare from Planar Chaos has boomed, and is completety busted because of some new interactions from Modern Horizons 3! Probably the most important side of the card is Boom, that will destroy one of your own lands plus a land of your opponent for . The idea is that you can do one of three things. Your first option is to simply blow up one of your lands as well, but that doesn't really sound like a busted move. Your second option is to play this along with some Indestructible lands like we saw in Modern Horizons 2. Lands like Rustvale Bridge can make sure you break the symmetry of the spell. But there's a third option in the form of Flagstones of Trokair. When you blow up this land you get to replace it by searching for a Plains card and putting it onto the battlefield. And while we're on the subject of Flagstones, this is another card that had a price spike this past week. It shot up 322% to $15.

By this point I can hear you think "but... those are two old cards while you promised it had something to do with MH3." We're getting there, but you're right. This is not a new combo and Flagstones already saw some constructed play here and there. White Orchid Phantom was printed in Modern Horizons 3, and this is a 2/2 flying first striker for that can blow up a non-basic land. But the controller of that land gets to search their library for a basic land and put it onto the battlefield. So if you have Flagstones of Trokair and play this new Spirit Knight you now have turned it into an Rampant Growth.

What definitey helped to drive demand for these cards is that Aspiringspike played a Boros Modern deck a few days ago using these exact three cards.

#2 Calamity of the Titans $3.24 (+123%)

When I saw this card in the Interests and read it, I was actually kind of surprised it was only a dollar before it spiked this week. For six mana, and revealing a colorless creature from you hand, you get to exile each creature and planeswalker with a mana cost lower than the revealed card. There's been plenty discussion and hate to be found on the internet for a card like Farewell. And while Calamity of the Titans is definitely not the same, it's also not that different.

As you've seen in the past weeks in this article series, we've covered some Eldrazi, and this sweeper fits right in the archetype. With the printing of the Eldrazi Incursion precon in Commander: Modern Horizons 3 not only did Eldrazi receive some new interest but also some new support. Being able to reveal a creature and determine from what mana value down everything will be exiled is a perfect way to break the symmetry of this sweeper and make sure you get to keep as many of your creatures as you can.

#3 Ramses, Assassin Lord $4.99 (+150%)

Ramses, Assassin Lord, is an... Assassin Lord giving them all +1/+1, but it also carries an alternate win condition. If a player loses the game while they've been attacked that turn by an Assassin you control then you win! I'm fairly surprised that it took this long to spike. The main reason I see for this card moving up is because of previewed cards from the Universes Beyond: Assassin's Creed set. When this set was announced we could make a very easy educated guess that it would be packed with Assassins and Assassin support.

Ezio, Blade of Vengeance

Unshockingly there is Assassin support in the right colors to make Ramses work, and while Ramses himself is not necesarrily bound to a Universes Beyond set lore-wise, it doesn't really make sense to have this card reprinted in a regular set unless it carries a strong Assassin sub-theme. But there's obviously still a chance that it's reprinted in the Assassin's Creed set itself.

There is, however, a chance that this card may not live up to the hype. These alternative win-cons may not be very popular in (casual) commander pods. Depending on your playgroup it may not be really accepted to get rid of one player and then win the entire game, so whenever you play a card like this, make sure you have had the rule 0 talk!

Cheap Pickups

Please note: for our 'record low' we consider the price of the card over the past seven years. Many cards were even cheaper (a) decade(s) ago. Also note: some cards are still going down, and might be even cheaper pickups next week.

Well Rested $4.92 - Moving up!

Well Rested has been identified by the MTGStocks Premium Penny Stocks feature as a card that has reached its bottom and is starting a consistent uptrend.

Voja, Jaws of the Conclave $7.88 - Moving down
